# Caramel Macchiato Cupcake Coaster ☕🧁

Some crochet projects are simply fun to leave on the coffee table. This little coaster combines a golden caramel center, a darker coffee-colored edge, soft-looking cream, and tiny red cherry details. It’s a cheerful way to use small amounts of yarn—and a sweet handmade gift for a coffee-loving friend.

Materials

• Worsted-weight yarn in golden yellow, dark brown, white, and red
• A crochet hook that gives your yarn a neat, firm fabric
• Yarn needle and scissors

Start with the caramel center

With the golden yarn, make a magic ring, chain 2, and work 11 double crochets into the ring. Continue increasing to form a flat circle. By the end of the third round, you should have 33 stitches.

Lay the circle on a table as you work. If it begins to cup, check your stitch count before adding the next round; a flat center will help the finished coaster sit neatly beneath a mug.

Build the coffee and cupcake layers

Change to dark brown for the coffee-colored section. Continue shaping the base until it reaches 55 stitches. The following sections add the cupcake shape and the textured cream.

For the white cream detail, the tutorial uses five-stitch popcorns and chain-7 spaces, repeated to make 11 textured sections. Keep the spaces even around the circle so each little “cupcake” has room to stand out. This is the section I recommend watching alongside the video: the popcorn stitch and the placement of the chains are much clearer when you can see them made.

Finish with cherries

Make 11 small red bobbles using four-double-crochet popcorn stitches, then attach them to the cupcake sections. Before weaving in the final ends, set a mug on the coaster to check that the center lies flat and the raised details sit comfortably around it.

I used coffee-shop colors for mine, but you could swap the palette for strawberry pink and cream or rich chocolate brown. Which version would you put beside your favorite mug? 🍓
